Nirvana and Nikolai’s Wedding in St Maarten - part two.

We recently had the great joy of helping Nirvana and Nikolai with their wedding in St Maarten. It was a fantastic wedding, despite Tropical Storm Noel, simply because of the people involved. Nothing was going to stop them celebrating these two great people.
The ceremony was held at St Martin of Tours, Roman Catholic church in Philipsburg.
Straight after the ceremony, we borrowed an umbrella from a guest at the wedding and we “kidnapped” Nirvana and Nikolai away from everyone for a few moments. Despite the rain and with Kisha helping with the dress we made our way down the boardwalk to the Pasanggrahan guest house.
We then literally “stopped the traffic” on Front Street (the main tourist road) to capture some of the lights and colors of Philipsburg.
It was then time to dry off a little in the car as we made our way back through traffic to the Westin for the reception.
Some formal and not so formal/fun shots.

As this was a St Maarten/Bahamian wedding with a few other countries thrown in the couple had organized a Junkanoo band. The band led the whole wedding party from the ballroom, through the main lobby of the hotel and out to the pool area to view the (slightly damp) fireworks. The noise from the Junkanoo band around the hotel was incredible!
On Sunday it was a relaxing brunch at the family villa that overlooks Philipsburg before everyone had to catch flights back home.
Anita and I both want to thank Nirvana and Nikolai for inviting us to help them with their wedding. Technically, it was a “small challenge” with the weather, but that was nothing compared to the warmth and happiness that this wedding was all about. Without doubt they are great people who have a wonderful set of friends and family, all of whom went out of their way to make use feel welcome. Congrats!
