Platypus Video Workshop - “Five Minute Movies”
Posted by Chris Mann Posted in Commercial, General, Video |
As part of our recent Platypus Video Workshop, each of us had to make a five-minute documentary on a subject of our choice.
Not too hard, you might think - but we only had a single day in which to shoot it, and a day and a half allowed to download and edit the footage into a finished piece!
It was a challenging exercise, but very worthwhile…
We learned a huge amount about the moviemaking process by making these short films - from planning what story to tell and how to tell it, to finding locations, writing interview questions, shooting “B” roll to illustrate the story, and then editing everything together into a finished piece. We definitely acquired new skills and new ideas which will enhance all our future productions, whether for commercial clients or telling the story of a wedding day.
If you are interested, read my blog piece about the workshop. In the meantime, here are a couple of our “five minute movies”:
This is Preston Dickenson’s movie about David Been, local entrepreneur:
Download “Welcome to Fun World”
And here is David Gallardo’s film about David Bowen, musician, dancer, and the Director of Culture for the Turks & Caicos Islands:
Download “A Life Of Music And Dance”
