Is it the location or the people that makes a photo shoot “click”?

Amanyara, Parrot Cay, Grace Bay Club, The Somerset, The Regent Palms, Mexico, Jamaica, The Bahamas, St Maarten, we’ve been so lucky in the fantastic places that we’ve been able to shoot over the years. From gorgeous resorts in Turks and Caicos which are all less then 7 years old with wonderful architecture and landscaping, to further-away destinations with ancient ruins and historical landmarks.
It was delightful to receive a call from Amanyara on Tuesday to arrange the photo shoot for a young couple on honeymoon. It was their last day, they were flying out tomorrow, could we help?? Of course I said YES!!
Although Amanyara is one of my favorite places to shoot (and stay
) with its Asian-inspired buildings, for this photo shoot it was actually the couple that stood out.

Aziz and his wife had literally just come back from horseback riding and were running late. I gave them a few minutes and then followed them to their villa that happens to have its own private cove and beach area.
On honeymoon, they had flown all the way from the Middle East to stay at Amanyara.

Even with the wind and rain the beautiful location at Amanyara made things very easy. What photographer wouldn’t like this as their back yard!!

With the sun setting I made a few simple portraits using the rocks and the setting sun.

Unprompted by me, just love…

A more prompted picture to capture those eyes !!

By now the sun had set, we had walked over to the main part of the resort to use the last light of the day and the resort’s main swimming pool.

These next three images in sequence are my favorites from the day.

Then with virtually no daylight left, I used a tripod and a long exposure to pull in some light and capture this wonderful silhouette.

What a great couple and what a lot we achieved in our 35 minutes or so!!….whilst the location was stunning it was just the two of them and their obvious connection that made the shoot perfect.
