Alison and Brad’s Wedding at The Sands on Grace Bay Beach, Turks and Caicos

About an hour before the wedding I got a call from NILA Destinations – the groom was running a little late – he was currently sitting in the Doctor’s office on an IV drip and under doctor’s orders to “rest”…..but the wedding was going ahead – he hoped… It’s moments like this that define people. Would the bride be OK? I could only imagine what state Alison might be in. Clearly this wasn’t going to be a “run of the mill” wedding – it was going to need flexibility, “thinking on our feet” and a delicate touch. If you are even thinking about have a wedding WITHOUT a planner or other professionals – this is exactly why you need them!
To my relief I found Alison making the most of things. She was not letting things get her down at all. Under the extremely difficult circumstances she was smiling and moving ahead. After a few more calls between myself and Estelle at NILA we were updated with the good news that Brad was back in the room, was “drugged up” (he was under a lot of pain) and was getting himself ready. PHEW
Estelle, myself and Alison then chatted a bit to put a plan together so Brad had the least amount of time standing in the heat.
You can see the relief!

Alison had some fun gifts – towels, maps and notes that she gave out to her guests.

While we let Brad get ready – we did a little “makeup shot”.
Alison doesn’t normally wear makeup so it took a few minutes to get this between the hysterical laughing!

Over to see Brad in his room – he was definitely moving a little slower – but you can tell from this smile that he is relieved that he IS going to make it to the wedding.

After working with Brad for just a few minutes and seeing that he was OK – it was back to see Alison.

The perfect setting for a destination wedding?? Right in front of the Sands Resort, Grace Bay beach, Turks and Caicos

I tried a slightly different shot for the “flowers”. It was windy on the beach and typically the flowers/petals would be blown away too fast. So I had the whole wedding party 10-15 ft behind the couple and then they threw the petals up in the air and the wind did the rest. It was a one shot moment….

Brad was feeling a little “wobbly” so I brought a chair over for him and he took a moment. No problem – I just brought Alison to him!!

Not sure if it was the medicine or Alison that made him “perk up a bit” !

The reception was at Hemingway’s right next to the beach. It’s one of only three restaurants here that are this close to the beach. It was a lovely setting and a great way to end a wonderful day.

Sadly Alison and Brad had to leave the following day (yesterday) back to the USA so we didn’t get a chance to show them everything in person. We wish them all the best and Brad a speedy recovery. They are a great couple with a wonderful approach to life. What could have easily been a classic episode of “bridezilla” was actually quite uneventful and we were able to do 90% of what they would have done – which is exceptional and great credit to them.

Alison & Brad, You don’t know us, but we arrived at the Sands the day you got married. We also used Tropical Imaging on the Monday following your wedding for our “delayed” wedding shots. We watched your wedding from the deck of Hemingways and were eating dinner while your reception was going on. We found out later that Brad was not feeling well. We hope that he is feeling much better and that you have a wonderful life together. Best wishes.
