A 9-11 love story – Aaron & Candi at Villa Renaissance

Posted by Chris Mann

Hark-thumbSeptember 11th is a date that of course will always be remembered for the tragedy of the attacks on New York and Washington in 2001 – but thankfully there are also happier reasons to remember that date.

For Aaron and Candi from Virginia, 9/11 had special significance before 2001 – it was the day of their first date ten years ago, and also the day they got married in 2004!

This year, they came to stay at Villa Renaissance on Grace Bay, Provo to celebrate their fifth anniversary – and Aaron organized a surprise vows renewal for Candi – and a photo session with Tropical Imaging! Read the rest of this entry »

Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship 2009 in Turks & Caicos

Posted by Chris Mann

Caribbean Golf Championship 2009From the 3rd to the 8th August Provo Golf Club played host once again to the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship – the last time the championship was held here was ten years ago, so it was a welcome return. This year the contest was ably supported by headline sponsor, Bordier Bank, and organized by the Turks & Caicos Golf Association and its tournament director John Phillips.

Teams of 14 golfers from each of the Bahamas, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, OECS (Eastern Caribbean Islands), Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands and US Virgin Islands took part.

There was a great sense of camaraderie and fun among all the participants – though some serious golf was played too, despite the hot weather! Puerto Rico’s team emerged as overall winners, retaining their title from last year’s contest in the Cayman Islands. Read the rest of this entry »

The NeSmith family at the Somerset

Posted by Chris Mann

The Nesmith FamilyOn Friday I met with the NeSmith family at The Somerset for a “Beach Escape” family portrait session. The Beach Escape is a little different from our regular portrait sessions as we have more time (up to two hours typically) and we hop in the van and go to a different location around the island as well as taking pictures at the resort.

The NeSmiths have been coming to Turks & Caicos for ten years so they know the island very well and knew exactly what they wanted to do – which made it easy for me! :-) They specifically wanted to get some photos with the deep blue ocean as a background, so we scheduled their shoot for first thing in the morning instead of the hour before sunset as we normally do. New posts on our “green building” blog

Posted by Chris Mann

digger on construction siteDon’t forget to check out the latest posts over on our “green building” blog – documenting the construction of our new purpose-built office and studio, which is now two weeks into the build.

Not only will it give us a lot more space and a proper studio area, but it’s going to be the first building in Turks & Caicos constructed with the aim of being as eco-friendly and energy-efficient as possible, within the limits of local building codes (there are some materials we can’t use because of the need to withstand hurricanes, for example).

We’re posting regular updates, including photos and video – you can find the blog at www.brilliant.tc/greenbuilding. There’s also a link in the sidebar at right.

Laura & Steve’s honeymoon shoot at Amanyara

Posted by Chris Mann

Favreau_thumbOn Wednesday evening I drove up to Amanyara at Northwest Point for a photo session with Laura & Steve. They were enjoying their honeymoon after getting married back home in New Jersey last Saturday – congratulations guys!

Although I’m sure they will have some great photos of the special day from their wedding photographer, this was a great opportunity to get some extra images here in what I think you’ll agree is a much prettier location than New Jersey! ;-) Read the rest of this entry »

Tanya and Paul at Nikki Beach – the movie

Posted by Chris Mann

Gordon_thumbA few weeks ago Kellie posted some of the great photos that she and Anita shot at the wedding of Tanya and Paul Gordon at Nikki Beach – now it’s the movie department’s turn!

We’re following on behind because it’s always a slower process editing a movie than it is working with stills – not because it’s harder necessarily but just because it’s a much more time-consuming process reviewing the clips, deciding which ones to use, cutting them to fit with music, grading the color, and so on. Anyway, here we have the finished result… Read the rest of this entry »

Anne & Mike’s First Anniversary

Posted by Chris Mann

Hanrahan_thumbAnne and Mike were married in Turks & Caicos a year ago this week – and decided to spend their one-year anniversary at The Sands on Grace Bay, where they got married.

As part of their celebrations I met with them for an anniversary photo-session – something that we offer to all our wedding clients free of charge!

The Sands has some attractive gardens so we took the opportunity to get a few shots there before heading to the beach… Read the rest of this entry »
