Miss Turks and Caicos Photo shoot and behind the scenes video

Posted by Andy Mann

MISSTCI09frntFor the last 3 or even 4 years we have been delighted to help the Turks and Caicos Tourist Board with a photo shoot of the contestants for Miss Turks and Caicos (or Miss Earth TCI – I think it is this year?).

We do it for free, it’s fun and the girls are great to work with. This year it’s a little more low-key (naturally) so it was just a quick two-hour shoot near our studio and on Grace Bay Beach.

Maria & Kevin’s wedding movie

Posted by Preston Dickenson

Baker-0308A few weeks ago we shot the wedding of Kevin and Maria at the Somerset resort. If you read Anita’s blog post about the wedding you will remember that we had a big rain cloud come over, and we wound up shooting their romantic session the next day.

Despite the weather not being very cooperative, the wedding was a big success and we got some great footage of both the ceremony and the day-after shoot. Read the rest of this entry »

Tanya and Paul at Nikki Beach – the movie

Posted by Chris Mann

Gordon_thumbA few weeks ago Kellie posted some of the great photos that she and Anita shot at the wedding of Tanya and Paul Gordon at Nikki Beach – now it’s the movie department’s turn!

We’re following on behind because it’s always a slower process editing a movie than it is working with stills – not because it’s harder necessarily but just because it’s a much more time-consuming process reviewing the clips, deciding which ones to use, cutting them to fit with music, grading the color, and so on. Anyway, here we have the finished result… Read the rest of this entry »

Travel agents, new resorts, and Bollywood in Turks & Caicos!

Posted by Chris Mann

Bollywood dance routine at The SomersetDown here we have a very active Tourist Board and Hotel Association who put a lot of effort into promoting Turks and Caicos as a vacation destination, and also as a great place for corporate events and weddings as well as family vacations.

Earlier this week they hosted a group of travel agents from North America who came down to check out some of the newer upscale resorts that have opened recently, including the Gansevoort, The Regent Grand, West Bay Club, Nikki Beach, and Beaches’ Italian Village, as well as some established favorites such as The Regent Palms, Point Grace, The Sands, and The Alexandra.

We decided this was a great opportunity to showcase some of these fine resorts, and also to shoot with some of our new camera equipment… Read the rest of this entry »

A video shoot for MAXIM magazine in Turks & Caicos

Posted by Chris Mann

maxim_thumbLast November I had a call from the PR Director of MAXIM magazine in New York, asking if we could help them out by recording video of their swimsuit model shoot here in Turks & Caicos, for use on their website.

Well, naturally that wasn’t a difficult question to answer! ;-)

I did a three-day shoot with them, working directly with the girls some of the time but mostly just documenting the photo sessions. Of course everything had to be hush-hush until the magazine issue came out, which is why I haven’t been able to blog about it before… Read the rest of this entry »

steadicam_018thumbAt Tropical Imaging we are always on the look-out for new ideas, new technology, and new skills that we can learn, to help improve our work and create more exciting and interesting images and movies for our clients. That doesn’t mean “gadgets for the sake of gadgets”, but anything that can really help us step up the quality of what we do to a new level.

So this week Andy, David, Preston and I spent three days with instructor Robert Starling learning how to use our new Steadicamâ„¢ rig…

What’s a Steadicam? Read on to find out!

Will you marry me?

Posted by Ileana Ravasio

goyal_088choc“Once upon a time a beautiful girl woke up to an invitation to the Turks and Caicos Islands. A diamond ring and a sweet wedding proposal were waiting for her…”.

Sounds like a fairy-tale, doesn’t it? Charming Nitin made Rachna’s dream a reality, organizing everything to perfection: the reservation at The Somerset resort, the dinner on the beach, the Tiffany box, the romantic letter and Tropical Imaging to capture the magic of this memorable moment.

Ashleigh & J.P’s Wedding Video

Posted by Preston Dickenson

videocam150We often talk about photos on our blog but we don’t often feature videos. Part of the reason is that video takes longer to edit then stills, so we post the photos on our blog first rather than the video in order to show the wedding as soon as possible.

But our videos are worth seeing too! :-) so from now on we will be uploading the short version of some of our videos so that you can see this side of our work.

Let’s start with Ashleigh & J.P’s wedding, which is a great example of the new style of video that we are making which brings together stills, video of the ceremony, and the voices of the bride & groom to tell the story of the day.

Eric and Melissa – the movie!

Posted by Chris Mann

Back in April this year Ileana and David shot the wedding of Melissa & Eric Peel – you can see their wedding photos here and their beach “Fashion Shoot” here.

Now we’re featuring the short version of their wedding movie.

It’s taken longer to get online than the stills partly because we’ve been developing a new style of wedding movie production, in which we feature the words and feelings of the couple themselves much more than usual, and that has required some extra post-production work.
